Nylon rolls with the least effort and takes the highest load, but transmits shock and marks soft floors. PU carries a high load while running quietly and protecting the floor, which is why it is standard on pallet trucks. Rubber absorbs the most shock and grips best, at the cost of higher rolling resistance.

UHMW is chosen for chemical resistance and low water absorption, so it holds up in wash-down, chemical and cold environments where nylon or PU degrade.

Yes. Hand Pallet Truck wheels — both steering wheels and load rollers — are supplied as spare parts.

A castor swivels so the trolley can be steered; a fixed wheel only rolls forward and back. Most trolleys use a mix — fixed wheels for tracking, castors for manoeuvring.
